Hokonui TimeBank took advantage of Sir Stephen Tindall's recent visit to Mataura to make a friendly gesture of gratitude for the Tindall Foundation's support for Lyttelton TimeBank. We have benefited since Lyttelton has been giving so much support to other fledgling Timebanks like ours.
So a basket of goodies was put together, with baking from Andrina (highly recommended) and a garden posy, and a card reading: To Sir Stephen Tindall in gratitude for the assistance we have received indirectly through the Tindall Foundation support towards establishing Timebanking in New Zealand. Of special note, this basket of goodies marked the first trade for a new Hokonui TimeBank member.
The photo at left shows (from left to right) Tindall Foundation Projects and Strategy manager Dave Richards, Hokonui TimeBank board member Debbie Brinsdon, and Sir Stephen Tindall.
Board member Jill Ware also took the opportunity to have a word with Sir Stephen (as shown in the photo at right), who seemed well informed about Timebanking. While no formal presentation was on the agenda for the forum on Community-led development, Timebanking came in for plenty of favourable comment by speakers, and then during small-group discussions focussing on positive aspects of the programme and good things happening in the South.
There will be a new member orientation at the Community Connections Centre, 1 Charlton Lane, Gore on Monday 3 May 2010 from 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
Join us at the James Cumming Wing, Ardwick Street, Gore on Sunday 18 April 2010 from 1.30pm for the official launch of the Hokonui TimeBank.
There's a Children’s Art Competition to either draw, paint or design a clock with exciting prizes including MP3 players in three age groups. So make sure they enter by bringing their artwork to the opening to be in to win.
For everyone else we ask that you bring your loudest, best looking, and most unusual clocks, so we can celebrate the opening of Hokonui TimeBank in a proper, roudy southern manner. (We promise any speeches will be short.)
